Redefining an already well established and well respected sound is a risky thing to do.  Cheap Fakes have done it with nothing but absolute authenticity and sophistication.

Set to release in early July, the album Deep Space is one that will inspire audiences to fall in love with their stylistically eclectic music all over again.  And finally, after two years in the making, Cheap Fakes are ready to share their new groove on a two month East Coast Album Launch Tour.  The Deep Space Tour will see Cheap Fakes perform through Victoria to Queensland and include a number of tasty music festivals along the way.  The tour will include two performances at Splendour in The Grass in late July.

The new release was recorded and produced by lead guitarist Scotty French at Gold Coast's Love Street Studios.  Deep Space magically weaves seductive brass lines through intricate melodies and infectious grooves.  Infused with elements of Ska, Funk and something that can only be described as late-night Cactus-Jazz.  The band have thrown in some Latino and Americano zest. Then, to complete the album, they gave it a psychedelic squeeze before pouring it into an 12 track vinyl pressing.  Deep Space has a unique mix that is stylistically original to the collaboration of Scott French and the Cheap Fakesalone.

"Working on Deep Space was a new experience for me as an engineer; writing, arranging and performing on the fly kept the energy high and inspiration flowing, without any limitations and resulting in a very eclectic bunch of tunes."  French recalls, "The song writing was a very collaborative process, often starting from very organic improvisations captured in full recording studio situations, many of which went straight on the album and gave us a very unique perspective of a fresh idea."  Scott French, Love Street Studio, Currumbin.

The six piece powerhouse have already had an action packed start to 2018 with countless festival slots kicking off the year at Woodford Folk Festival.Other highlights this year include performances at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Festival 2018, The Queens Baton Relay and a quick Western Australia stint to perform to Fairbridge Music Festival.

2017 saw the band release two singles from the forthcoming album Deep Space.  'Touch n Go' and 'Sisters' receiving national airplay and accolades both in Australia and internationally.

Now taking this long awaited album to the nation, Cheap Fakes will tour extensively to bring their new aural heart-breaker to their fans Australia wide. Those heading to a show should brace themselves for a high energy, charismatic live performance.  A show that is creatively curated to tear at your heart, fill it with tears of aural joy, make you question your own existence and then throw you into Deep Space.

Cheap Fakes will be hitting up Solbar on July 28 with Hemingway.
