Caloundra Music Festival first artist announcement is in...
Birds of Tokyo, John Butler Trio, The Living End, The Waifs and The Temper Trap head up an explosive list of first round artists locked in to perform at the 2018 Caloundra Music Festival.
Festival Director Richie Eyles said the Sep 28 - Oct 1 festival would feature a program of broad appeal including top Australian acts, exciting emerging artists and quality internationals.
“John Butler Trio is back by high demand. A big crowd favourite that festival goers request every single year, it’s fantastic to have them back and hot on the heels of their North American Summer Tour,” he said.
Also returning by popular demand are two bands from the USA that were unknown to Australian audiences until they hit the stage at CMF last year. Both Groovement (Funk rock band from Arkansas) and Red Young (Jazz piano and organ player from Los Angeles) won the hearts of the CMF crowds with each show bigger than the next as they played sets across the 4 consecutive days of CMF.
Continuing the New Orleans connection and making their CMF debut are power funk band Big Sam’s Funky Nation! They'll be injecting heavy groove vibes through high-energy music that mixes funk, rock & roll, hip-hop, and jazz.
