Tijuana Cartel and Kallidad team up for monster show at Imperial Hotel - Dec 15th
Hold on to yer hats, Tijuana Cartel and Kallidad have teamed up and are bringing one monster show our way on December 15th at the Imperial Hotel Eumundi, in support of Tijuana Cartel’s ‘Live at Hotel Brunswick’ album tour.
Tijuana Cartel are virtuoso flamenco guitarist and vocalist Paul George; multi-instrumentalist and production extraordinaire Carey O’Sullivan; jazz trained musician Eamon Dilworth on trumpet and esteemed tribal percussionist Shiela Finke.
Tijuana Cartel’s new album ‘Live at Hotel Brunswick’ (released September 2018) is teeming with the infectious party vibes that characterise their live show.
The electronic tour-de-force never fails to ignite a dance floor and this compilation of tunes captures what their live show is all about. Heavy bass and beats underpin virtuosic instrumentation and exotic sounds reminiscent of the Middle East, Morocco and Spain.
Recorded live under the stars over two nights in March 2018 at the Hotel Brunswick in Brunswick Heads NSW, the album features the greatest dance floor bangers from their illustrious career spanning the clubs, pubs and festival circuits of Australia.
Their first live release, the project was inspired by Led Zeppelin who recorded a live album over two nights at Madison Square Garden in February 1975.
“We really wanted to capture the essence of our live performance,” says Sheila Finke (percussion) “We switched ourselves off to the idea that the night was being documented and just lost ourselves in the music. We left everything on there. Even the odd mistake”
Guitarist and vocalist Paul George says,” Our fans have been asking us for a live album for years, though we just never got around to it. I think we were always obsessed with writing new material. So it wasn’t easy to look back and find our favourite tracks”
And it made perfect sense to bring those mariachi metalhead, Kallidad along for the ride…
With their trademark “Day of the Dead” facepaint, Kallidad has a visual image every bit as striking as their one of a kind sound.
The line up is two Spanish guitars and a box drum - but don't let the lightweight set up fool you. Kallidad can rock a crowd from top to bottom! The group combines influences from flamenco and mariachi music with rock and metal to create a powerful, energetic and uplifting sound that gives the audience no choice but to dance!
