It's a good year to be in(to) TOWN.
With a string of local venues under their belts, local trio Town have made their mark on the Sunshine Coast music scene. Recently having headlined the local music industry conference Turnup at Solbar last week, this blend of alt/folk music, combining traditional instruments with a punk attitude is on the rise.
The Town sound is characterised by passionate pop vocals with a raspy edge and eastern European influenced melodies over ridiculously good piano with great feel and licks by Ant; Skilful and tasteful drumming with a jazzy, cabaret flavour from Richard; and huge, dark and groovy double bass from Mark. Their sound appears to have elements similar to The Dresden Dolls and Supertramp at times, but is uniquely their own.
With a bunch of dates to round out 2018, you still have a chance to catch these lads on stage... but a word of warning, make sure you bring your dancing kit, coz they'll get you on the dancefloor for a bit of "grind waltz"!
Their EP "Toil" is available for purchase at any of their gigs, alternatively you can get a taste of their foot stomping, rum swilling tunes by streaming on Spotify via this link.
