Bearfoot seek truth and embrace growth on latest roots/dub single, ‘Fall’

Sunshine Coast roots, reggae and dub gurus, Bearfoot mark their return with their introspective new single ‘Fall’, which releases on June 2.

Originally forged from soundcheck jams, ‘Fall’ emerged a dark, strong, dub-by groove, driven by a steady, solid shuffle, strong, fat bass, spacey synths, and a horn line that floats into the ether.

Asher Chapman’s vocal take borders on the robotic, to give a cold feeling, before the bridge shines down through the grey.

Speaking on the evolution of ‘Fall’, Asher explains that it is one of Bearfoot’s older tracks that has grown in meaning over time.

‘To be honest, I’d never really had a good idea of what it meant to me until recently. Looking back over the lyrics, I see the image of someone standing tall at the edge, awaiting a fall. I hear hints of self-discovery and the pursuit of authenticity amidst a power struggle,’ he said.

‘Fall’ is reminiscent of the choices we all face: to lead or follow, take leaps, seek truth and embrace growth.

The single is another release to come from the much anticipated debut album from the Sunshine Coast act, recorded at Yama-Nui Studio in the Sunshine Coast hinterland with Paulie B yet again on the controls, with the band cutting loose on some slow minor jams.

‘Fall’ will release on June 2nd, with the debut full length album to come towards the end of September.
