Sunshine Coast Music News May 4 2017

This week's a cracker!  Starting tonight with Frank Sultana & the Sinister Kids at Cafe Le Monde, and Tay Oskee at Solbar... that's a massive Thursday night.  Follow that up with Lyall Moloney at Solbar tomorrow night (with Bart Thrupp in the front bar), Electrik Lemonade on Saturday night (again Solbar, with Jason Daniels in the front bar), the legendary Jeff Lang at Imperial Hotel in Eumundi as well, then top that off with The Lyrical at Alex Surf Club on Sunday, and Khan Harrison Band continue their Solbar residency Sunday evening too.
Caloundra Music Festival, this week, made their first announcement for this year's event, unveiling 14 acts that will be appearing, including Art V Science, Drapht, Spiderbait, Thundamentals, Ladi6, Jon Stevens, Hot Potato Band, Ronan Keating and more.  Brace yourself for more artist announcements soon enough.
The Point Music News, this year, is a media sponsor for the annual Australian Music Week conference/showcase, and if you haven't applied yet, we highly recommend you give it a shot.  Likewise, tickets have just gone on sale for this year's event, with plenty of talks from guests within the industry, as well as killer showcases from artists across the country.  Click here to either apply or get your tickets now.
The Big Pineapple Music Festival timetable has been released, and hopefully there's no (or not many) clashes happening for you all. On a side note, we do recommend that you check out the local artists playing on the day as well, from Bearfoot and J Unearthed BPMF winners, Fight Ibis (both on the main stages early), to High Tropics, in2nation, The Hi-Boys, and Buck Dean & The Green Lips.  Check the timetable here.
Lots of pride for our Coast artists getting some radio love this week too, with in2nation, Hayden Hack, Band of Frequencies (who are playing at The Yacht Club on May 12th with Asher Chapman Trio), getting spins on JJJ, and Fight Ibis, Dosed, Andrea Kirwin, The Hi-Boys, Khan Harrison Band, and Taylor Payne all getting spins locally.
New tunes to check out this week -
Hayden Hack - 'My Lady' was only released onto Unearthed last week, and has already been spun on the J's. Bliss out to Hayden's track that has lots of shimmery layers, and that typical South African vibe that Hayden has been entertaining us with for some time.  Listen here.
Whosen Van Poppenstein - 'I Want Ur Booty'. Just because.  Quirky, WAF electro hip hop. Listen to it here.
MC Wheels - 'Positive Outlook'.  Nathan 'MC Wheels' Tessman is back with a new track. The guy's relentlessly positive views, and slick production to boot, are showcased in this track. Nice.  Listen here.
