Sunshine Coast Music News, March 29 2017

Keep dry this week by seeing some epic music at some of our venues. Simple.
Start tonight by heading to the good ol' Solbar for Open Mic goodness. Chalk your name up, test out some new tunes, and get in early.  Harii Bandhu will be at the Maroochy Surf Club tonight too.
This week, catch the likes of The Vanns, The East Pointers (with The Fergies), Asher Chapman Trio (basically half of Bearfoot) all at Solbar, Cafe Le Monde will have The Moonsets and Peter Hunt (Kooii) Duo, The Lyrical is back in town, and more. Again, find more details on the Gigs page.
A massive congratulations to Highlife on their recent win a the Queensland Music Awards this week. The Afro Psych legends took out best World Music Release, and we couldn't be prouder of them.
Just a reminder that artist applications for  Australian Music Week (Sydney) are still open, so if you can manage it, apply to showcase. This event, much like BIGSOUND, is a great opportunity to showcase to national and international industry types.  Apply here.
Also, Caloundra Music Festival artist applications have closed, so if you forgot to get your application in, well... you had plenty of time.  Notifications for artists will appear from now till May, and after that, unsuccessful applicants will be notified.
Keeping an eye on new releases coming our way, and as mentioned previously, grunge dudes, No Intelligent Life (NIL) are up in the hinterland recording a new EP, with those sessions wrapping up soon enough.
The Quakers are also working on new material in Caloundra, with some tasty displays of light and shade coming through in the snippets of the songs they have been teasing.
New stuff out and about to check out on J Unearthed -
Our mate, Sharon 'Shazza' Brooks has released a new one in 'Sharin Love', which you can listen to here.
And check out Emily Dawn's new one, 'Wilderness (The November Remix) for a smooth taste of indie-pop/electronica here.
And finally, a massive congratulations to Andrea Kirwin, who just scored a Cole Clark Guitar endorsement. That's huge news! Well done, Andrea.
