Sunshine Coast Music News, August 25 2016

Brace yourselves… we’ve got a big one coming. Over the next four days, the Sunshine Coast is going to be swimming in musical goodness.
Tonight – Circle of Sounds Open Mic (all ages) at The Yacht Club Mooloolaba from 7.30, with feature performer Anrie Prinsloo, Mason Hope over at the Maroochy Surf Club, Phil & Trudy Edgely at Solbar, AZ U.R. at the Imperial Hotel Eumundi, and Open Mic at Nook and Cranny…  this is just easing you in for the weekend.
Tomorrow, the legendary Dead Letter Circus are back on the Coast to play Solbar, bringing with them Rival Fire, and Clint Boge (The Butterfly Effect – by the way, TBE have released their catalogue onto vinyl for a limited time… get in quick with that).
A very special show at the Imperial Hotel tomorrow night, when Andrew Farrell teams up with Barry Charles for a special show. (Barry will be following that up with a Black Bunny Restaurant slot on Saturday).
Cheap Fakes are back in town, as well, with a brand spankin’ new single ‘Deep Space’ (damn it’s good), and will be playing Solbar on Saturday night.
However, if you’re in the mood for festivals, then you have TWO to choose from.  Up on the range, the Maleny Music Festival kicks off tomorrow, for three days of music, art, workshops and more, featuring performances from Fat Picnic, Andrea Kirwin, All Strings Attached, and more.  For further details, click here.
And up in Noosa, Noosa Creative Precinct are bringing you another Junction Alley, with a massive line-up featuring The Vaudeville Smash, Bullhorn, Switchkraft, The Outlook, Copycat, Jimmy Davis and more.  Tickets are selling very fast, so get yours here.
And hopefully the weather gods are kind to us, for Cooroy Originals returns on Sunday, with Jimmy Watts Duo (replacing Golden Age of Ballooning), Swamp Gully Howlers, AKOVA,  & Alysia Rosa from 1pm.
For a whole heap more of what’s happening, head to the Gigs page.
Awesome to see a new dedicated live music venue opening up on the Coast… well… not so much as opening up, but revamping.  The V Room is coming to Noosaville, with an opening party on Sept 23 featuring DZ Deathrays, Columbus, and Walken. Worthy. For more info on this, head here.
And (officially) big congratulations to Bearfoot, The Brains Trust and Dream Thieves who will be representing the Sunshine Coast at a special showcase during Bigsound on Wednesday Sept 7 from midday. Thanks to The Creative Alliance Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Council, and QMusic, this is an opportunity to show just a sample of what our area is producing music-wise.  That’s followed up by bringing some of the delegates up here during Horizons Festival (which kicks off on Sept 2).
