Sunshine Coast Music News Nov 24 2016

Firstly, a huge congratulations to the Queensland International Ska & Reggae Festival organisers - what an awesome event. A packed out Yacht Club grooved to The Upsteppers, Sunny Coast Rude Boys, Zambazzy, and more.  Let's see another one.
Another fired up weekend coming, starting with tonight's goodies including Liam Gerner & Jen Mize at The Bison Bar from 7, Brodie Graham Trio at Solbar, SoLar at Maroochy Surf Club, and Circle of Sounds All Ages Open Mic at The Yacht Club Mooloolaba.
But save room for the following - Holy Holy at Solbar on Friday night (with I Know Leopard), Flow Wars 2 at The V Room (feat. Master Wolf, Emph N Treats, ValNTino and more (8pm), Dubarray and Kudos at Solbar on Saturday night, the last Cooroy Originals for the year with The Floating Bridges, The Counterfeit Umbrellas, Jeremiah Johnson, & Phenix on Sunday, and loads more over the Coast. As per usual, head to the Gigs page.
Other big news this week, with the announcement of this year's A Not So Silent Night (AKA The Point Party) to be held at Solbar on Thursday December 15th, and featuring performances from Bearfoot, in2nation, All Strings Attached, The Perries, Pete Allan (and band), Not To Regret, Fight Ibis, and The Quakers.  It will also include an All Stars Jam at the end.  Those who have attended in the past know it's a huge night of local talent, with showcase-sized sets. However, this year, we've trimmed the amount of bands, therefore giving a little more time to their sets.  It's a gold coin donation (you can donate whatever you want, however), with proceeds going towards keeping The Point website running.  Big thanks to the bands for donating their time, to Solbar, and to Dangerous Tourist who are also presenting this event.  For more info, head here.
Ocean St World Festival artist applications have opened for the 2017 event, so if you're interested in playing, then fill out the application and we may see you on the line-up.  Head here for the online application.
Psych rock lords, Hobo Magic have released one hell of a new track in "The World Today". This heaving single twists and turns until your brain is like a pretzel. So good.  It's premiering on Tone Deaf right now, so click here and prepare thyselves for melting of the face.
Other new releases to get your teeth into -
Yamini have finally released the track, 'Cool Breeze', which was recorded at Tanuki Lounge under Paulie B's guidance. Perfect tune for these almost summer days.  You can listen to that here.
And Lifeboat's new EP, 'Bad Anecdotes' is such a massive sounding release from the alt-rock outfit. You can get that via bandcamp now, right here.
